| Sumari: | Bariatric surgery represents an effective alternative to treat severe obesity. Nurses play an essential role in the preparation, follow- up and recovery of these patients. However, guidelines based on theoretical models such as Betty Neuman's have not been sufficiently explored. The objective was to design a nursing care guide for patients undergoing bariatric surgery, based on Betty Neuman's model, by means of a systematic review. A qualitative systematic review was conducted with a documentary approach, under the PRISMA method, selecting 20 scientific articles from databases such as PubMed and Google where studies published between 2015 and 2024 were analyzed. Although no study directly applied Neuman's model to bariatric surgery, many included key elements of the approach: preventive interventions, stress management, holistic and multidimensional care, self - care and postoperative follow - up led by nurses. Effective practices such as preoperative education, postoperative telecare, and emotional follow - up were identified as strengthening the patient's lines of defense. Finally, it is concluded that Neuman's model offers a valuable framework for structuring comprehensive care in bariatric surgery and its application in future clinical guidelines is recommended, especially in Latin American contexts where evidence is still limited. |
