| Summary: | Research was conducted on nursing strategies to improve adherence to chemotherapy in oncology patients, motivated by the high rate of treatment abandonment and the need to optimize care in this population. The importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in the care of the cancer patient and the requirement to develop specific nursing skills were highlighted. The main objective was to determine effective strategies that could contribute to improve adherence to chemotherapy. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology was used, based on documented reviews and a systematic search strategy that included 24 relevant studies. The results revealed that oncology nursing is strengthened by four key strategies: education and counseling to empower the patient, management of adverse effects to improve quality of life, personalized follow-up to adjust care, and continuous staff training for excellent care, in order to optimize adherence to treatment and the patient's overall well - being. In conclusion, adherence to chemotherapy is complex, influenced by psychological, social and economic factors, so patient - centered nursing interventions are required. In addition, four nursing actions are highlighted to improve adherence to chemotherapy: Personalized education and counseling, effective management of side effects, continuous patient follow - up, and training of area personnel. These measures ensure specialized oncology nurses, improving patient experience and treatment outcomes. |
