Beskrivelse
Summary:This project aimed to design an educational guide to instruct young people in the municipal youth center “Casa de la Juventud”, located in Tulcán 2024, regarding sexuality and the adequate use of contraceptive natural methods. For this purpose, a quantitative paradigm was used, with a transversal approach, descriptive and explanatory scope and a non-experimental model, applying the theoretical methods analytic-synthetic, and systemic, in order to address the problem in a structured manner. The research population was comprised of 50 teenagers participating in the different workshops in “Casa de la Juventud”. The data collection was made by applying a survey containing a questionnaire of 10 questions. The most relevant results showed that 44% of the surveyed have somehow heard about natural contraception, but only 38% could differentiate them from artificial ones without knowing its use; among the most common methods are periodic abstinence and the calendar or rhythm methods. The existing barriers in communicating about contraception persist, given that only 34% of teenagers feel comfortable discussing this topic, and the rest either avoid the subject or just find it uncomfortable to talk about. In addition, 38% mentioned that their main source of information was the internet, which affects misinformation. Furthermore, 48% perceived mistakenly that contraceptive methods are only to be used if the person is sexually active, or in another scenario, they do not know how to apply or use them, which evidences the need to strengthen sexual education to clarify any doubts and thus guarantee precise and adequate information.
