| Резюме: | The SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus generated one of humanity's deadliest pandemics, the COVID-19 disease, which claimed the lives of more than seven million people globally. This research aims to determine the extrapulmonary complications that arise as a result of SARS-CoV-2 infection through a systematic review of the literature. An empirical method, document analysis, considering inclusion and exclusion criteria as part of the search strategy, was used. Most studies and reports focus on respiratory complications in people infected with the disease, but very few addressed extrapulmonary complications as sequelae of the disease. The studies consulted on nervous system effects agree that the main complications were encephalopathy-encephalitis, stroke, and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. The most common cardiovascular system effects include myocarditis, cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failure. Likewise, the most significant digestive system complications include pancreatitis, liver damage leading to elevated AST and ALT levels, and food intolerance. Research into renal system complications identified renal tubular damage, acute renal failure, and kidney injury accompanied by proteinuria and hematuria. Finally, the most common complications in the endocrine and metabolic system were hypothyroidism and hyperglycemia |
