| Тойм: | Mental disorders generally occur in individuals who are exposed to internal or external stress factors which directly affect the quality of life and specially the health of the patient; additionally, these needs can influence each person in a different way depending on their response to surgical stress that disturbs them presenting as a threat that interferes negatively with homeostasis and subsequently affects mental health. At the same time, it can exacerbate the condition if there is already an underlying problem which can range from mild to severe disorders; therefore, it is essential to detect it early to provide education, control, and specific treatment. Objective: to describe the preparative nursing assessment of patients with mental diseases. Methodology: A type of systematic research was carried out with a qualitative approach with a non-experimental design and descriptive scope to conduct an analysis of the preoperative nursing assessment of patients with mental illnesses. Results: The patients who suffer from mental illnesses reach a high level of preoperative anxiety, as they present greater vulnerability. This interferes with the anesthetic process and their postoperative recovery since it is a factor that contributes to greater postoperative pain. Conclusion: To address this topic in patients undergoing some type of surgical interventions, it is necessary to apply strategies that improve their condition and lead to resilience, which includes optimal information and psychotherapeutic evaluation. |
