Cuidados de enfermería a niños en postquirúrgico inmediato de queiloplastia: revisión sistemática

Cheiloplasty is a reconstructive surgery that corrects facial and oral cavity deformities caused by clefts of the lip and palate, often linked to factors such as early pregnancy, alcohol or tobacco consumption during gestation, and the use of certain medications. These clefts can affect the nutrition of children and have psychological and social impacts due to altered physical appearance. Objective: To analyze the nursing care required for children in the immediate postoperative period following cheiloplasty, by means of a systematic review. Materials and Methods: A qualitative and descriptive systematic review was carried out, using reliable sources and following the PRISMA method. Of 80 studies found, 20 met the inclusion criteria. Results: Cheiloplasty, intended to repair facial deformities due to cleft lip and palate, requires specialized postoperative care. Nursing intervention is crucial to relieve pain, monitor vital signs, control respiration and saturation, among other aspects of the postoperative period. In addition, it is essential to provide support to parents and caregivers on issues such as postoperative nutrition and to avoid the use of bottles so as not to compromise wound healing. Conclusion: Immediate postoperative nursing intervention is essential to monitor physical symptoms, relieve pain and educate parents and caregivers on proper nutrition and wound care. This comprehensive care is crucial to ensure effective recovery and complete healing of the child.
