| Summary: | This Project is aimed at the company “RICC ROSES”, located in Tabacundo, to optimizethe fumigation operations in its rose plants by minimizing the risk of diseases for workersdue to the direct contact with chemicals. This risk not only affects the health of the staff, but it also represents economic losses for the company. The objective of this project is todevelop a robotic fumigation system that manages the fumigation processes bymonitoring remotely from a mobile device; in this way, avoiding the human intervention. The applied methodology was XP that consists of adjusting project stages in differentphases and rules that allowed the obtention of a quality result. The types of research usedfor this project combine the analytical-synthetic and the inductive-deductive methods; thefirst one implied an exhaustive analysis of the existing fumigations processes while thesecond one was based on detailed observations and analysis to identify specific problemsand develop effective solutions. To collect relevant data, interviews were conducted to aprofessional responsible for supervising the fumigation area evaluating the feasibility tointegrate electronic devices as an integral part of the process. Additionally, surveys wereconducted for the workers in charge of the area to understand the difficulties andchallenges they face in their daily activities. The implementation of an automatedfumigation system is presented as a valuable solution to support workers when reducingtheir exposure to harmful chemicals and improving the operative efficiency. This projectaims not only to protect the health of the workers but also to optimize the processes ofthe company through the application of innovative technology in the agricultural field. |
