Intervenciones de enfermería en el cuidado psicológico del paciente con urostomía, revisión sistemática

Introduction: Urostomy is a surgical procedure that creates an opening in the abdomen for the elimination of urine. This research highlights the importance of stoma care as well as the psychological and emotional aspects that affect the patient. Objective: To describe the psychological needs of the urostomy patient in order to implement nursing interventions to facilitate adaptation. Methods: A systematic review was carried out following the PRISMA methodology, analyzing 19 documents from scientific databases. Original articles, systematic reviews, books published between 2021 and 2025 in Spanish, English and Portuguese were included. A critical evaluation of the selected articles and a comparative analysis of the evidence were carried out. Results: It was identified that health personnel tend to focus more on physical complications than on emotional ones. It is crucial not to underestimate the emotional changes that may arise after surgery, as many patients face anxiety or depression due to alterations in their body image and the need to adapt to a new routine. Conclusions: Follow-up with the medical team and emotional support from professionals and family members are essential to manage these complications and improve the quality of life of the urostomized patient.
