Periodontal diseases in pregnant women are influenced by hormonal and lifestyle factors, which, together with the presence of pathogenic bacteria, can lead to gingival inflammation and periodontitis. Objective: To determine the incidence of periodontal disease in pregnant women of the Health Center N°1 of Ambato, using the Ramfjord Periodontal Disease index. Method: The methodology applied is descriptive of mixed cut, that is, quali-quantitative of observational type in view of visualizing the risk factors in pregnant women associated with periodontal diseases. The information was collected, organized and classified by means of inclusion and exclusion critics. Results: Of the 48 pregnant women, it was found that a high percentage presented some type of periodontal disease. The most common forms were moderate and severe gingivitis, with a higher prevalence in the age group of 26 to 35 years. Conclusion: The research highlights the need for more preventive dental care in pregnant women to reduce the risk of periodontal diseases and their possible complications for both the mother and the fetus. |
