Summary:Dental implant surgery is a dental procedure in which the roots of teeth are replaced with metal pins in the form of screws, which serve as a base to support a dental prosthesis. Objective: The purpose of the study was to analyse the efficacy and safety of dental implant surgery in patients with tooth loss by means of long-term success rates and associated complications. Methodology: The methodology corresponds to a qualitative, descriptive study due to the fact that it corresponds to a literature review. Key words and health terms were used to search for information, classifying the documentation according to compliance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: The success rate of the dental procedures was 90.27%, with the most relevant complications being pain, rupture of blood vessels and bone loss. With regard to the margin of error, an average of 0.63 ±0.50mm was found, determining that there are factors that can influence the appearance of deviations. Conclusion: This procedure is safe and generally well tolerated by patients, and the findings reveal that, under the supervision of trained medical professionals throughout the process, the risks inherent to dental implant surgery are minimal and controllable, showing a low incidence of complications during the procedure, which supports the safety of this intervention in the surgical environment.
