Summary:This research Project aims to analyze the impact of vicarious violence as another way to infringe gender-violence upon women’s right to have a freeviolence life. A thorough literature review was carried out as well as a review of relevant documents; it was complemented by research on the perception of vicarious violence among resident women in Riobamba City. This approach allowed for a deeper comprehension of current legal situation and the challenges faced by women. The results revealed that although the respondents were aware of some types of gender-violence, there was significant ignorance regarding vicarious violence. One informed, most of them considered that it was a problem that should be addressed legally. Additionally, lack of legal classification of vicarious violence was identified as a violation of fundamental rights of women. This study shows a broad consensus on the need to address vicarious violence through effective public policies. In conclusion, it is essential to educate the population on this type of violence in the context of several types of gender violence to strengthen legal policies to guarantee the protection of victims. The implementation of awareness campaigns and economic policies aimed at women’s empowerment represents a crucial step towards the eradication of vicarious violence in the country, thus contributing to building a fairer and safer society for all.
