Samenvatting:Premature newborns, due to their early birth, face particular challenges that can complicate their life process, one of them is breastfeeding. Therefore, nursing care for this feeding process must be meticulous, categorical, and multifaceted. The objective of this study is to establish the role of nursing in the breastfeeding process of preterm newborns. This is based on a qualitative-quantitative approach, applied, non-experimental, and descriptive, with a documentary data source through a systematic literature review using the PRISMA statement. A total of 110 articles were documented, which, after applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, were reduced to 25. Among the most important results, it was highlighted that nurses play a crucial role, encompassing health promotion as well as the optimal development of these newborns through direct and preventive measures, including the implementation of adequate breastfeeding practices, which are vital for the physical and emotional development of the newborn. Additionally, they provide emotional and educational support to mothers, helping them adapt and manage the challenges that bring a premature newborn.
