| Summary: | Care for patients with a Tenckhoff catheter is essential to prevent complications and optimize peritoneal dialysis, requiring organized, standards-based attention. Due to the lack of clear protocols in many institutions, a systematic literature review was conducted using publications from 2020 to 2024 in databases such as Scopus, PubMed, Scielo, LILACS, and ScienceDirect. Clinical evidence and International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) guidelines were prioritized to develop a nursing care algorithm focused on postoperative management. Fifteen relevant articles were selected, detailing specific and evidence-based interventions for Tenckhoff catheter care during peritoneal dialysis. Based on this information, a practical, replicable algorithm centered on patient safety was developed. It was concluded that its implementation promotes standardized care, improves clinical outcomes, and strengthens the role of nursing professionals in postoperative follow-up, thus contributing to safer, more humane, and more effective care. |
