Zusammenfassung:The present study was conducted in the city of Esmeraldas, province of the same name, with the objective of developing educational strategies on palliative care aimed at family members of oncology patients who come to Esmeraldas No. 1 Health Center in order to improve the quality in the care they give to those they look after. It has been carried out in an empirical manner without guarantecing that the correct application of the standards of palliative care recommended by the different health institutions is carried out. For this reason, the first step was the elaboration of the background and theoretical framework which are composed by the main points of view about the object of research, as well as the field of action of different authors. Subsequently, the methodological framework was donc; this one was based on the modality of mixed qualitative-quantitative research that led to the elaboration of an analysis and interpretation of the results obtained in the development of the research in which methods and techniques were used, such as the survey that allowed to diagnose the current situation of the care of terminally ill cancer patients. At this poínt, it is necessary to highlight that the methodology used was analytical and cross-sectional descriptive, as well as the synthetic analytical and logical historical methods, which contributed to a better understanding of the current situation of the problem that served as the basis for the elaboration of a proposal that developed strategies of intervention which gave positive results in the post-survey since the great majority of the caregivers demonstrated greater capacities in the management of the processes in palliative care given to cancer patients.
