Summary:Persistent COVID and post-COVID conditions (CPC) include clinical manifestations that last from 6 months to 2 years after the initial SARS-CoV-2 infection. Different phenotypes can be prevented thanks to vaccination, most of the reported cohorts are described outside Latin America. This review describes the studies carried out in the region. A search was executed in the databases, as well as in the grey literature of original studies, published until September 10, 2024, that reported patients with CPC symptoms in the vaccinated population carried out in Latin America. PRISMA guidelines (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis Protocols 5 cohort studies were identified, involving 10,926 patients with CPC, median age 47 years, predominantly female sex (57%), not vaccinated in 53% at least one dose 33%, first vaccination or two doses 42.5% and reinforced 20.2%. Two studies were identified that took into account circulating variants, the same ones that speak of clear phenotyping and that show that vaccination reduces the risk of CPC. It has been proposed that vaccination against COVID-19 is a measure that prevents CPC by 30-40%. All this information is extrapolated from European and North American studies. There is a gap in information about this entity and its relationship with vaccination prevention in the region with both primary vaccination and boosters.
