| Summary: | This research focused on the study of smoking among taxi drivers of the San Gabriel Cooperatives. The main objective was to diagnose the impact of tobacco consumption in this group and evaluate the effectiveness of preventive interventions. To do so, a quantitative paradigm was adopted with a longitudinal non-experimental design, allowing data collection over time through surveys based on the Glover Nilsson test. The results reveal that 30% of respondents consider smoking an important part of their life, while 32% reward themselves with cigarettes after completing tasks. 27% light up cigarettes routinely, without really wanting to, and 31% feel safer with a cigarette in their hand in social situations. These data underline the strong emotional and physical dependence on tobacco in this population. Regarding interventions, preventive actions were designed focused on health promotion and reducing tobacco consumption, with a focus on changes in the taxi drivers' lifestyle. The most relevant conclusion is that, after the implementation of preventive actions, an improvement in the habits of taxi drivers was observed, reducing tobacco consumption and decreasing risk factors, such as stress and long working hours. This shows that preventive interventions can have a positive impact on reducing smoking in this specific group. |
