Tóm tắt:Disability is a condition that affects and limits not only the physical condition but also the person’s mental or sensory condition. This research aimed to implement educational strategies that allowed to improve the care provided to people with disabilities thus fostering their autonomy; to this purpose, different activities were developed to promote the enhancement of care attention provided by the caregivers and family members to improve the independence of people with disabilities in the Specialized Educational Unitla Joya. The methodology used was a quantitative paradigm, using the empiric method asthe scientific observation to gather the information of valid and reliable data regarding the existing problem in children and adolescents with disabilities for this research. Similarly, theoretical methods were used such as the historic-logic, analytic-synthetic andinductive deductive, all of which contributed from different perspectives throughout the development of this research. Additionally, for the diagnosis, the Barthel index was used, and itsresults were assigned according to the indicatorsthat vary from 0-20 which impliesa total dependency, from 21 to 60 severe dependency, from 61 to 90 a moderate dependency, from 91 to 99 scarce dependency and 100% independency; these results associated to the research carried out imply that 53% have a moderate dependency, whilst 7% a total dependency, and 40% are independent. Given these results, the relevance of implementing the educational strategies that guarantee independence in the different disabilities of children and adolescents in the Specialized Educational Unit la Joya
