الملخص: | Emergency caesarean section is a surgical intervention that is performed in critical circumstances to safeguard the well-being of the mother or foetus, especially when vaginal delivery represents an imminent threat. The objective of this study was to design a nursing protocol for rapid intervention in pre-surgical preparation in emergency caesarean sections in Ecuador. The methodology used was based on an exhaustive search in the relevant scientific databases, following predefined inclusion criteria, such as: studies published from 2020 in Spanish and English, focussed on nursing interventions during emergency caesarean sections. 134 studies were identified, of which 12 documents were included for systematic review. The results revealed that the inclusion of standardised protocols in the preoperative phase, which include a rapid and exhaustive evaluation of maternal and foetal conditions, effective communication between the health care team and adequate preparation of the surgical environment is vital to improve health. In addition, it was determined that the continuous education of nursing staff in the management of obstetric emergencies is crucial to reduce complications. It was concluded that it is necessary to implement standardised preoperative intervention protocols for emergency caesarean sections in Ecuador, emphasising the fundamental role of nursing care in optimising maternal and foetal outcomes, which has the potential to reduce the morbidity and mortality rates of emergency caesarean sections, improving the quality of obstetric care |
