| Streszczenie: | Metabolic syndrome is one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality. This researchstudy is mainly aimed at developing strategies for preventing metabolic syndrome inworkers of the Public Works area in the Municipality of Ibarra 2024. For this purpose, aquantitative research paradigm was used; additionally, the types of research were action, bibliographic, field and exploratory. Similarly, the methods used were analytic-synthetic, inductive-deductive, and historic-logic. The survey was the technique used, which led to significant data as follows: 69% of the workers in Public Work area in the Municipality are manual labor or operational, and therefore are more prone to develop metabolic syndrome due to the different inadequate lifestyles because of their work routines; regarding their nutrition and physical activity, 60% of the surveyed population do not know about what diseases may be developed due to metabolic syndrome, 87% indicated that they had backgrounds of chronic disease, 40% claimed that they consume fruits, vegetables and fiber less than twice a week; 31% do not practice any physical activity, 25% consume alcoholic beverages at least once a month, 32% smoke at least once a week, and 30% considered that obesity is a risk for the metabolic syndrome. Given these results, a proposal is developed including intervention strategies to reduce the risk factors. Finally, it is highlighted that the proposal constituted a great improvement in raising and integrating both awareness and knowledge concerning a healthy lifestyle. |
