סיכום:The implementation of AI in Ecuadorian notarial practice and the pressing need for robust regulation to ensure the protection of personal data are the focus of this research. This study examines the growing integration of AI across various sectors, including notarial services, and the unprecedented regulatory challenges it poses within the Ecuadorian legal framework. The general objective of this research is to analyze the extent to which current Ecuadorian legislation safeguards personal data in notarial practice amid the advancement of AI. A qualitative methodology was employed, guided by an interpretive-hermeneutic paradigm, using theoretical methods such as synthetic, inductive-deductive analysis, and empirical methods including documentary analysis and interviews with notaries and specialized lawyers. The key findings reveal significant limitations in Ecuadorian legislation regarding its ability to address the unique challenges posed by AI in notarial practice and ensure data protection, creating a legal gap that could compromise the privacy and security of sensitive information. The study concludes that an urgent review and update of Ecuador’s legal framework is necessary to regulate AI implementation in notarial practice, prioritizing the protection of fundamental rights in the digital age.
