Περίληψη:This research is aimed at security authorities, criminological researchers, legal professionals, and the public to provide a detailed analysis of the issue regarding the use of scopolamine in the commission of crimes in the city of Ambato. This phenomenon has caused growing concern due to its implications for public safety and the well-being of its victims. The investigation seeks to identify and analyze the methods of scopolamine administration used by offenders, evaluating their impact on citizen security, while also generating strategies for prevention and control. To this end, a mixed methodology has been employed, combining the analysis of documentary sources, statistical data, and interviews with experts in criminology and security. Additionally, reported cases in the city have been analyzed to understand the criminal operation patterns and the risk factors associated with the use of this chemical substance. The results show that scopolamine is primarily used in social interaction contexts, such as public transportation and nightlife places, and that victims are often selected based on their apparent vulnerability. Furthermore, a high dark figure of these crimes has been identified due to the underreporting of complaints. The study's conclusions highlight the need to strengthen cooperation between citizens and authorities, improve prevention and awareness strategies, and develop public policies, municipal ordinances, and police strategies to reduce the incidence of this crime or ensure the efficient judicial prosecution of those who commit it.
