Cuidados de enfermería en el postoperatorio de esofagectomía: revisión sistemática

Postoperative care after an esophagectomy should be provided by nursing staff familiar with the correct procedures to a satisfactory recovery of patients in all the aspects. Objective: to describe nursing care in the postoperative period of esophagectomy through a systematic review. Methodology: A document analysis was carried out on articles published between 2021 and 2024 in different databases: Elsevier, Scielo, Pubmed, Research Gate, Dialnet, Repositories, and Google Scholar; 80 sources were identified which through inclusion and exclusion criteria outlined in the PRISMA methodology resulted in 20 studies that were taken into consideration for the development of the results and discussion. Results: the analysis of the selected sources revealed nursing care practices in the immediate, intermediate, and late postoperative stages, particularly in the nutrition areas, psychological support, and reduction of complications which can be considered to have a positive impact on them. The postoperative period in esophagectomy also revealed the feasibility of some methods or strategies over others in patient care. Conclusion: This work highlights the importance of nursing staff in the postoperative care of esophagectomy patients during their different stages for a more effective rehabilitation.
