Description
Summary:Logical-mathematical relationships develop skills that enable children to interact effectively with their environment. These include the ability to reason, solve problems, recognize patterns, understand numerical concepts, and strengthen logical thinking in various situations of interest. This fosters creativity through the use of associations and mental operations in the construction of numerical concepts. The present study aimed to determine how artistic expression strengthens logical-mathematical relationships in kindergarten at Dra. Matilde Hidalgo de Prócel School in Loja City. It employed a quasi-experimental design with a mixed approach, allowing for qualitative-quantitative data collection and analysis, and had a descriptive scope. Additionally, inductive-deductive and analytical-synthetic methods were used throughout the investigation. The technique utilized was observation, which directly confirmed the results achieved through the activity guide. The instrument employed was the Early Mathematical Evaluation Test (TEMT) applied to twenty-two children. This instrument revealed deficiencies in logical-mathematical relationships, as the pretest showed that 56% of the children were at a low level and 48% at a moderate level due to issues in comparison, classification, correspondence, seriation, verbal counting, structured counting, resultant counting, and general knowledge of numbers. After applying the guide, significant improvement was observed, with 62% of the children reaching a high level, and no child remaining at a very low level. The study concluded that employing artistic expression is an effective method to improve logical-mathematical relationships in children through various forms such as dance, music, drawing, and painting in an innovative way.
