Итог:In Latin America in 2021, at least 12 women died violently due to gender-based reasons every day. In Ecuador specifically, 197 women were murdered in the country that same year. In light of this, the main objective of this study was to examine the effect of regulatory quality and technological innovation on femicides in Ecuador, using statistical and econometric techniques, in order to propose public policy strategies aimed at reducing violent deaths of women. The data used were obtained from the World Bank and the International Country Risk Guide for the period analyzed from 1990 to 2021, and time series cointegration techniques such as Maki and Hatemi-J models and the Granger causality test were employed. Regarding the results obtained, the existence of a negative correlation between femicides and regulatory quality was verified, as well as a positive correlation between technological innovation and femicides. It can also be observed that the variables are cointegrated, suggesting a long-term relationship between them. However, it is important to note that, despite this cointegration, there is no evidence of a direct causal relationship between the research variables. Therefore, it is crucial that policy implementation focuses on improving women's living conditions, especially concerning the prevention of violence against women. This implies the implementation of measures that ensure an efficient and accessible justice system.
