Zusammenfassung:Chess is an ancient game, it fuses mathematical, strategic and tactical elements. By using it as an educational tool, teachers can create a stimulating and interactive learning environment, boosting math skills like mental arithmetic and decision-making in a fun and challenging way. The objective of this curricular integration work is to determine if the game of chess as a pedagogical strategy strengthens mathematical calculation in students from 6 to 8 years of age of the third parallel year C of the Lauro Damerval Ayora educational unit. a mixed approach with a quasi-experimental design and correlational scope The methods used were inductive, deductive, synthetic analytical, and statistical. Among the techniques and instruments for this work was the initial test, which is a battery that evaluates skills in basic mathematics such as counting, numbering, random values, logical and numerical operations. As a sample, 17 children were selected; managing to diagnose in the initial test a percentage of 59% of children on an excellent scale; 29% in regular; and 12% on a deficient scale, these percentages show that there are still difficulties in the field of basic mathematics skills. As stated above, a pedagogical program made up of several lesson plans was designed that mainly benefited the children, since the planned activities are directed towards them to improve their knowledge of logical-mathematical notions. For what is demonstrated in the final test, new results, finding in 100% of children an excellent grade point average, thus confirming that the use of chess as a teaching tool significantly improves the area of mathematical calculation, helping the reflection, problem solving, and decision making. Key Words: chess, pedagogical strategy, mathematical calculation, skills.
