Summary:The present investigation titled "ROLE OF THE MONOPARENTAL FAMILY IN THE FORMATION OF VALUES OF THE STUDENTS OF THE SPECIALIZED EDUCATIONAL UNIT" LUIS BRAILLE "OF THE CITY OF LOJA", is based on the work done in the educational institution together with the actors principal of this problem, students, parents, mothers of families, teachers, administrative staff and service of the institution. The objectives set out in the research are aimed at determining the role played by the single-parent family in the formation of values of the students, as well as identifying the elements that affect that training and finally the preparation of an intervention proposal that allows parents understand the importance of values, to ensure a good family life. The methodological process used to achieve the objectives was based mainly on methods such as; scientific, inductive, deductive and analytical, contributed to the collection of data and information. Likewise, the techniques of the survey, interview and focus groups were used; all these applied from the perspective of Social Work, from which relevant data for the development of the research were obtained. Among the most relevant data of the research is the fact that even today we find very marked traditional roles within the family, which place women as responsible for the care and training of children at home. Thus, within the research it was found that single-parent families play two main roles, which are that of a traditional mother-wife, and a provider wife. Faced with this, the responsibility of educating in values and economic support has allowed students to develop attitudes of resilience in the face of adversity through good practice of values; Another aspect is that society and the social environment have a great influence on individuals, in this way the values 5 that both parents and mothers of family within the home teach their children can be influenced by external elements. Therefore, a social intervention proposal has been designed focused on carrying out activities that allow the family to understand that values are an important and fundamental part to improve the family coexistence of all its members, and in this way strengthen family relationships and the bonds of union of all its members. All this starting from individual and group work activities.
