| Čoahkkáigeassu: | The health staff in particular the nursing professionals, meet long working hours, exposing themselves to different occupational risks that prevent the proper fulfillment of their obligations. The aim of this study was to analyze occupational risks in the nursing staff of the Isidro Ayora General Hospital of Loja. This was a descriptive, quantitative and cross-sectional study. For data collection a survey was applied, which consisted of 33 items classified in biological, physical, chemical, ergonomic and psychosocial risks, 132 nurses participated. Obtaining the following results, in the biological risk factors 98% is exposed to body fluids, 87% has been in direct contact with patients who present respiratory secretions, 86% in contact with infected wounds, and 98% in direct contact with contaminated material such as swabs and gauze, among the physical hazards 86% in their working day are exposed to drafts, 52% perform hand washing with cold water at the night schedule, 94% are exposed to cleaning products, 82% are exposed to chemicals such as latex for a long time. Regarding ergonomic risks, 91% stand for long periods, 73% do not use adequate body mechanics to mobilize patients, in the psychosocial risks, 69% feel emotionally exhausted by their work, there is an equal percentage of 50% where work generates work stress. 34% are between the ages of 36 and 40, the female sex predominates with 70%, within the years of work experience is between 6 and 10 years with 40%, and 46% are married.
