| Streszczenie: | Cognitive stimulation constitutes an effective form of intervention for the prevention and optimization of cognitive abilities in the elderly people, as well as in the maintenance and arrest of cognitive deterioration. Therefore, the elaboration, execution and analysis of the effectiveness of cognitive stimulation programs, which respond to this need, are essential. The present investigation had as a purpose to determine the effect of the application of a pilot program of cognitive stimulation of memory in elderly people with normal aging and mild cognitive impairment. The study has a pre-experimental design with a quantitative approach in which 15 older adults from the "San Vicente" Center in Catamayo canton participated, who were selected by means of a non-probabilistic intentional sampling. A cognitive stimulation booklet was designed and applied to the study population, determining its effect through a pre and posttest using the memory subtest of the Neuropsychological Evaluation NEUROPSI, in addition a Likert-type scale to validate the degree of satisfaction. The results obtained showed that the pilot program was effective in maintaining and improving memory, both in eldery people with normal aging and with mild cognitive impairment, the post test showed an improvement in memory level with respect to the prior level to the application of the program. Finally, it is concluded that the pilot program had a positive impact in elderly people, there was no dropout during the implementation of the program, and it was rated as useful and satisfactory |
