Descripció
Sumari:Manufacturing is the basis of the National Economy of many countries, the industry being important for the development of national wealth. Therefore, the main objective of this research is "to determine the effect of manufacturing on the economic growth of Ecuador during the period 1970-2016, through a cointegration study". The research is based on the first law of kaldor (1967), which indicates that the total GDP growth is determined by the growth of manufactures. We used grouped data of time series with secondary information obtained from the World Develompment Indicators of the World Bank (2017), and cointegration techniques to verify compliance. The model includes the control variables brute force of capital and labor force to improve the analysis of the data. The results indicate that manufacturing has a positive relationship with economic growth in the short and long term. In addition, is evidence the Granger causality between variables. Finally, the paper suggests strengthening the manufacturing sector in search of a more sustainable economic growth.
