| Shrnutí: | The menopause is the period of transition from a reproductive state to one not reproductive", taking place changes endocrinologists, biological and clinical among the ages of 40 to the 60 years. This stage is characterized by the exhaustion of the follicles like consequence of the changes in the production of the hormones gonadotropinas. The present study of descriptive type, carried out in the City of Loja in the women that attend the Subcentro of Health of the Neighborhood Obrapia; and after the search of the information it was obtained that 54.5% of the women has knowledge of the mature woman's three stages beginning from the changes in the menstrual cycle, hormonal until the psychological impact; also of knowing on the definitions of Premenopausia (40.9%); menopause (70.5%); postmenopausia (47.7%); as for the autocuidado practices in the menopause 77.3% makes reference to the feeding, physical activity, control of illnesses and personal care (fingernails, hair, skin, teeth); and 90.9% knows that the signs and more common symptoms that are presented in this stage are the perspirations, depression, insomnia, suffocation, menstrual irregularities and dysfunctions genitourinary. The signs and symptoms that the women perimenopausicas presented were the migraine (86.4%), sickness, depression and anxiety (34.1% respectively), irritability (29.5%), perspiration (18.2%) and sexual alterations (6.8%). AND as for the behaviors of the women's autocuidado in this stage, it is to carry out physical activity, to go to controls doctors (100% respectively), to maintain a balanced feeding (86.4%), personal care as for the fingernails (59.1%), hair (50%), skin (43.2%), teeth (40.9%) and they don't have psychological support (93.2%).
