Shrnutí:This research paper titled PLAY AND GROSS MOTOR IN CHILDREN OF 4 TO 5 YEAR OLD, PRIMARY EDUCATION AT THE SCHOOL OF BÁSICA JOSÉ ÁNGEL PALACIO LOCATED AT THE CITY OF LOJA DURING 2019-2020., has as a general objective to analyze the importance of games in gross motor skills in children aged 4 to 5 years of age, the design of the research was non-experimental, with a mixed approach and descriptive scope, the methods used were analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive, to establish the diagnosis we worked with 22 children and 1 teacher, taking into account the non probability sampling; the technique used was an interview directed to the classroom teacher, the instrument that was applied for the diagnosis of the gross motor area was the Abbreviated Development Scale (EAD-1) by Nelson Ortiz, since the population presented failures in the most of the items within the aforementioned area, showing that 14% of the children are at the alert level and 41% at the medium level, presenting difficulties when throwing, bouncing and catching the ball, taking three or more steps on one foot, do wheelies alternating feet and jump from 60 cm high, for that reason, was designed one alternative proposal called “My playful little body”, which consists of different types of games aimed at working on areas such as balance, laterality, coordination, strength, and displacement. It is concluded that the game is an activity that allows children to strengthen their body image and develop their physical, intellectual, affective, and cognitive capabilities.
