In this context, the objective of this study is to promote financial education in the families of the San José parish of Catamayo Canton, which was carried out through the design and implementation of a financial education programme with relevant topics according to the needs of the population under study. The research methodology is a mixed approach with a descriptive exploratory scope, using the methodology endorsed by the PISA programme to determine the level of financial knowledge, the instrument applied was a questionnaire of fifteen questions based on financial topics applied to 318 heads of household. The results reveal that, initially, families in the parish of San José were located within level two of financial knowledge, therefore, a financial education programme was implemented that allowed 86 % of the families to reach level five. It is concluded that the financial education programme was efficient because the families increased their knowledge and acquired crucial information to apply in the management of their finances. |
