Sumario:The Ecuadorian curriculum has a special interest in developing creative writing by teaching literature and stimulating the communicative skills of secondary students. This study was developed in this regard and was entitled “Drawing words constellations and writing based on pictures, schemes, and drawing: two techniques to produce micro-stories based on legends from Loja for tenth-grade students. This qualitative research involved 17 tenth-grade students of "Elvia Bélgica Jiménez de González" High School, which is located in Malacatos. The instruments used to obtain information were field research, a survey, diagnostic tests, a didactic sequence based on Louis Timal-Duclaux’s techniques (1993), text production, and rubrics; by applying these instruments, the general objective and the three specific objectives were achieved. The results show that these techniques significantly promote the participants’ creativity during the writing process of micro- stories and they contribute to recovering local tales, which are part of Loja’s cultural identity. In addition, the need to improve spelling and the correct use of punctuation was identified. In conclusion, Timal-Duclaux techniques are evidentially effective in enhancing people’s creativity and strengthening their cultural connection while writing, highlighting the value of these techniques in the educational field.
