| Izvleček: | Determining the importance and impact of using play in the teaching process as a means of achieving meaningful learning for the children in pre-school II of the Alonso de Mercadillo Educational Unit was the main objective of this work of curricular integration. To this end, the research techniques used were an interview with the preschool II teacher, which allowed information relevant to the research to be collected, and an observation sheet applied to the children, which verified the importance of applying play as a means of achieving meaningful learning. The method used in the research was qualitative, as the triangulation of information enabled us to analyze the benefits of play in children's meaningful learning. A sample of 20 children was taken, divided into 11 boys and 9 girls, who are the object of the research. The information was collected using an observation sheet, and an interview was conducted with the teacher to corroborate the implementation of the game in the educational process and to identify whether it helps the learner acquire significant learning. From the results obtained, it was demonstrated that applying the game regularly in the educational process helps to significantly improve active participation in the activities proposed by the teacher, allowing the development of socio-emotional and cognitive skills, teamwork, and collaboration between peers, achieving the integral formation of the learner. Through the application of the interview, three predominant types of games were identified: role-playing games, movement games, and construction games, which allow the learner to develop creativity, and body control and this helps the child to develop directionality and bilateral integration. In short, the research determined that using games as a teaching strategy is effective for the child to achieve meaningful learning, allowing for their integral development.
