| Gaia: | The purpose of this research is to update the quality management system of the coproanalysis and uroanalysis areas of the clinical laboratory of the Isidro Ayora Hospital, taking as a reference the requirements established in the ISO 9001-2015 quality standard, which constitutes a suitable organizational and management tool. In these areas, it is essential to ensure quality results in these areas, since they contribute to the diagnosis and monitoring of various diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract and urinary tract. In order to fulfill the objectives, a quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive study was used. The research was carried out in two stages: in the first stage, the current status of the laboratory was analyzed by using a checklist according to the requirements established in the ISO 9001-2015 standard; subsequently, by means of descriptive statistics, a total compliance of 54%, a partial compliance of 22% and a total non-compliance of 24% was determined. Finally, in order to solve the nonconformities in the next stage, the documentation and information required in this QMS proposal was updated or designed; therefore, the operating manuals, quality manual, process map, the organizational chart were updated, and also protocols or procedures such as auditing, document preparation guide, stakeholder follow-up, risk and opportunity management, among others, were developed.
