Résumé:Adolescence is the most important stage to open up to the social world, so it is common to find difficulties to express opinions or adapt in a good way in their environment, being more vulnerable in the group influence and giving in to peer pressure, evidencing little social skills, for this reasons the drug use is presented as an alternative to meet needs and belong to a social group. In this way, the present investigation determined the relationship between social skills and consumption of psychoactive substances in school students of an educational institution in the city of Loja. The methodology used was correlational and exploratory, carried out on 128 students. The instruments used to collect information were the Goldstein Social Skills Scale and the Test for the detection of alcohol, tobacco and substance use. Among the results, it was evidenced that the most prevalent substances are alcohol, tobacco and inhalants. In relation to the social skills, half of the population has a normal level and a quarter an excellent level
