Deskribapena
Gaia:Phonological awareness involves the ability to identify and distinguish individual sounds in words, as well as to recognize patterns of sounds, such as rhymes and alliterations, this skill is crucial because it will allow the beginning of reading and writing, therefore, the following general objective was proposed: to determine how the use of children's stories strengthens phonological awareness in high school children of the Unidad Educativa Padre Julián Lorente in the city of Loja in the period 2023-2024. To address this purpose, we worked with a quasi-experimental design, a mixed approach allowing to obtain qualitative and quantitative results, on the other hand, the scope of the research was descriptive, inductive-deductive and analytical-synthetic methods were used to select the most relevant information for the construction of the theoretical framework, information gathering techniques were carried out, such as observation and the PECO instrument was used, which evaluated two components: To address this situation, an activity guide entitled "Discovering the sounds of stories" was implemented, which facilitated the strengthening of the syllabic and phonemic components, This strategy facilitated the strengthening of phonological awareness, reflecting a decrease in the initial levels, thus, the children are now located at different levels, highlighting the decrease in the very low level that only 10% are found, achieving that 42% are located in the high level. Finally, it has been conclusively demonstrated that the narrated children's stories played a fundamental role in promoting the development of phonological awareness, this is largely attributed to their ability to offer a clear language, be adaptable and written in prose, these features not only favor the linguistic development of children, but also stimulate their imagination, memory, attention and enrich various cognitive skills in early childhood. Key words: phonological awareness, story, phonemes, language skills, syllable sounds.
