La negligencia familiar y su incidencia en el desarrollo emocional de los niños, niñas y adolescentes del centro de acogimiento institucional “Padre Julio Villarroel Ocaña”de la ciudad de Loja, año 2022

In recent decades, the seriousness of family neglect has been recognized worldwideas a common form of abuse of children and adolescents. However, its diagnosis and treatment present difficulties due to its complexity. It is crucial to focus on clinical and social aspects to differentiate it from other similar situations. To prevent this problem and avoid the emotional impact that can lead to institutionalization,it is necessary that public policies address this problem from multiple perspectives. Therefore, the objectives of this research focused on analyzing family neglect and its influence on the emotional development of children and adolescents residing in the "Padre Julio Villarroel Ocaña" institutional care center in the city of Loja during the year 2022. The aim was to identify the causes and consequences of negligence, evaluate its emotional impact on minors and design actions for a community strengthening plan. To carry out this study, a quantitative and cross-sectional methodology was used. We worked with a sample made up of 20 children and adolescents, as well as 15 members of the Technical Team of the Shelter Center. The results revealed that minors who are admitted to shelters under protection measures imposed by the authority face future emotional problems that affect their cognitive and behavioral development. The temporary stay in a reception center generates a psychological trauma in these young people. In conclusion, it was determined that children and adolescents who arrive at institutional care centers due to family neglect experience a negative emotional impact on their lives. And so, it is suggested to promote various preventive actions with the families of the communities to avoid the violation of the rights of minors and prevent their entry into shelters due to the lack of satisfaction of their basic needs as human beings.
