Gaia:The epidemiological problem in Ecuador has different causality, so that in Machala among the prevalent diseases in the epidemiological profile, are the vectors, in the first place is the Dengue fever; situation that motivated the current research, whose results will serve as an input for the decision making on the part of the Authorities of this Operative Unit. This was a descriptive and Longitudinal type study; with quantitative methodology. Whose proposed objective was to establish the knowledge and practices related to dengue prevention in the population of the “Florida Six” neighborhood, Canton Machala 2016-2017; 216 housewives ranging in age between 18-29 years participated in the research, obtaining data that were processed by the SPSS software. Version 23. The main results show that the 48.1% considers that Dengue is a viral disease, regarding the classification the 36.1% referred to Dengue and the 25.2% to severe Dengue; 54.6% are not aware of the transmitting vector, 94.4% respond that it is acquired from a mosquito bite, as symptoms they indicated: fever (27.5%), headache (25.8%), muscle and bone pain (23.4%), pain behind the eyes (12.1%), nausea and vomiting (10.8%); stating the serious hemorrhages (48.9%) as a complication and 86.11% answered paracetamol as a treatment; A large part of the population is carrying out preventive measures. As a conclusion: Most of the population has knowledge about dengue, in addition they practice preventive measures to avoid it, however a small percentage are unaware about it and do not practice preventive measures of any kind.
