Upon completion of the investigation was obtained: the average age of the study group is 21.5 years, finding that the main benefits were secure method (39.5%), postponing pregnancy (36.1%) and convenience (13.9%). Also 58.1% of users present adverse effects, the most prevalent: menstrual disorders (25.6%), headache (17.4%) and acne (10.5%). It also presents an effectiveness of 100% with a Pearl index of 0, with a high degree of satisfaction (95.4%). El estudio es de carácter descriptivo transversal, teniendo como universo una población femenina en edad fértil, constituida por 86 usuarias sexualmente activas a quienes se les inserto el implante subdérmico como método anticonceptivo en el periodo abril- septiembre del 2013. Para el estudio se aplicó una encuesta formulada por los investigadores y se obtuvieron datos acerca de los principales beneficios y efectos adversos en relación al uso de implantes anticonceptivos subdérmicos. Al culminar la investigación se obtuvo: que la edad promedio del grupo de estudio es de 21.5 años, encontrando que los principales beneficios fueron: seguridad para la salud (39.5%), posponer el embarazo (36.1%) y por comodidad (13.9%). Asimismo el 58.1% de las usuarias presento efectos adversos, siendo los más prevalentes: los trastornos menstruales (25.6%), la cefalea (17.4%) y el acné (10.5%). Además presenta una efectividad del 100% con un índice de Pearl de 0, con un alto grado de satisfacción (95.4%).
