| Samenvatting: | This research work is a descriptive cross-sectional study that examines what the most important risk factors associated with neonatal sepsis, grouped as: maternal, neonatal and dependents own service, with the following results: The number of admissions in April to September 2013 period was slightly higher in the General Hospital Isidro Ayora (191 income) in the Manuel Ygnacio Monteros (170 income) Hospital; no clutch the number of infants who developed septicemia in the first of which amounts to 46 (24% prevalence), a value that far exceeds 6 RN (prevalence 3%) diagnosed with Sepsis in Hospital Manuel Ygnacio Monteros The variables that showed statistically significant risk factors were: the low level of maternal education, history of urinary tract infection and / or vaginosis undiagnosed, poorly treated or untreated, low birth weight and male gender. Likewise, the service capacity of both hospitals is insufficient in relation to the demand for income, and not has all the technological equipment and sufficient staff to manage nursing infants. On the other hand the rules of asepsis and antisepsis in the management of the newborn, are partially implemented at both hospitals; General Hospital Isidro Ayora 20% of the staff does not comply with hand washing and use of gloves for performing minimally invasive procedures, and the Hospital Manuel Ygnacio Monteros 50% does not meet the minimum use of gloves for procedures, but if rigorously handwashing in each procedure. In conclusion, the Hospitals of the Canton Loja have in common factors of prenatal maternal risk factors and extrinsic risk to the infant, which if diagnosed early, thanks to adequate birth control will allow the end with the birth of a RN in fullness of condition. Besides infrastructure, lack of equipment and limited staff nurses also act as an important risk factor. Keywords: Sepsis, neonate, risk factors. |
