Conocimiento de métodos anticonceptivos en adolescentes embarazadas de la Parroquia Santiago de Loja

Teenage pregnancy is a health problem that is influenced by a series of factors such as the lack of knowledge about contraceptive methods, which can lead to several consequences during this period. The purpose of the present investigation has as general objective to determine the knowledge of contraceptive methods in pregnant adolescents of the Santiago Parish and as specific objectives to establish the level of knowledge of contraceptive methods, to know the prevalence of adolescent pregnancy and to relate the knowledge of contraceptive methods and adolescent pregnancy of the Santiago de Loja Parish, the study corresponds to a field investigation, descriptive, quantitative, correlational, prospective and observational type, there was a sample of 139 adolescents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria; to whom a survey about the knowledge of contraceptive methods was applied, which allowed assessing the level of knowledge in adolescents, showing a low level of knowledge in 56.12% n = 78, in the same way with the aforementioned survey knew the prevalence of adolescent pregnancy with 12.95% n=18 and nonpregnant women with 87.05% n=121 in this population, respectively. It was evidenced that there is no statistical significance between the variables having a value of p < 5.991, demonstrating that knowledge of contraceptive methods is not related to adolescent pregnancy in this study population. This indicates that there may be other factors that trigger this problem
