Riassunto:The present research work developed in the South of the city of Loja, called “geological-geotechnical study for the expansion of the physical infrastructure of the Plastic Arts degree at the National University of Loja, located in the Argelia sector, canton and province of Loja", the work began with the topographic survey granted by the Department of Physical Development, and coupled by the author at a scale of 1:1000, which served as a basis for the structural geological survey in an area comprised of 1.26 hectares (ha ), with a dominant lithological conformation in the terrain of a sequence of sub-horizontal strata of shales, clays, siltstones, sandstones, conglomerates interspersed with lenses of sands and conglomerates called alluvial , of the sedimentary complex of the Quillollaco formation (MLPq ). To carry out the geotechnical characterization, direct methods were applied according to technical and strategic criteria such as: 2 pits and 2 SPTs, and describe the physical-mechanical properties of the geomaterials from the samples obtained in the field, and tested in the laboratory. according to current ASTM standards and obtain SUCS and AASTHO classifications. Indirect methods called vertical electrical soundings (SEV) were applied, located in the southern sector between the AAP-01 sounding and the CAP-01 pit, of the terrain. Corroborating the information obtained, it was contrasted where it allowed the preparation of the geotechnical map of the terrain, classifying it into 2 geotechnical zones, prioritizing zone 1, the most suitable with an admissible capacity Qa= 5.5 T/m2, with a friction angle = 270 determined stratigraphically. as competent soils for the construction or physical expansion of 3 floors, with an isolated footing foundation with a base (B) of 2.0 m and a settlement of 2.38 cm per service limit for isolated footings of 1.0 m x, 2.00 m in area and an offset of foundation (df) -2.0 m deep.
