That is why this research is to analyze the evolution and the financial situation of the credit union controlled by the Superintendency of Banks and Insurance of Ecuador during the period 2001 - 2014, and its sustainability scenarios in time. It should be noted that for the development of the same scientific method with its modalities used, plus the CAMEL methodology indicator that evaluates the financial strength of cooperatives contemplating five areas applied: capital adequacy, asset quality, efficiency, profitability and liquidity that evaluated together fail to reflect the situation within a financial institution. By the financial evaluation was evident that large cooperatives have higher strengths and resources to stay in the financial market on small cooperatives who show weaknesses in terms of profitability, asset quality and liquidity. The current legal framework and the same control of the regulatory body have been disadvantaged small cooperatives in the country. As a result, today the number of cooperatives in the country has fallen mainly those who were not under the control of the Superintendency of Banks and Insurance Keywords: CAMEL, superintendent of banks and Insurance, superintendent of popular and solidarity economy, credit union. |
