Περίληψη:This thesis has as its primary objective the implementation of a system of environmental management (EMS) in the mining company, EXCELMORO S.A., located in “El Salado -Portovelo canton “El Oro Province South of the Ecuador. To reach the main purpose it was used the methodology proposed by the standard ISO 14001; 2004, which consists in the preparation of an initial environmental review, identification of applicable legal requirements, environmental impact assessment and the design of an environmental management plan that would improve the environmental performance of the company. The initial environmental review allowed us to know that the company has a line of main production dedicated to obtaining gold, and another secondary dedicated to the production of copper concentrate. The identification of occupational risks was carried out through the methodology suggested by the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IEES) and 10 areas were identified where there is the probability of occurrence of 19 risks of accidents and incidents. Identified 26 legal requirements applicable to the company, A finding a rate of compliance of 38.5 % and 61.5 % non-compliance was found. In terms of process water and domestic wastewater is evidenced that the parameters analyzed did not exceed the threshold established in environmental legislation. The reported noise levels exceed the maximum permissible limits laid down in the environmental legislation (TULSMA). The main noise sources identified were crushing (crushing and grinding) and cyanide (agitation) area. Analysis of the air quality indicates that in the evaluated sites there is not contamination caused by atmospheric emissions, but there is contamination given by particulate matter material PM10, which is the only parameter that exceeds the maximum permissible limits established by the TULSMA. At the same way it was determined that capita production of non-hazardous solid waste in the company is 30.7 Kg per day. The identification and evaluation of environmental impacts through the criticality matrix identified 30 environmental aspects, from which 18 represent a risk for the environment and workers, then through the criticality matrix 13 environmental impacts were identified, from which 8 are of high risk 5 of medium risk, representing 61.5 %, 38.4 % respectively. Physical and biological factors (human resources) are the most affected by the impacts arising from the activities of the company. While in the components of flora and fauna it was evidenced that the impacts are not significant because of areas that present alterations of different classes. The environmental management plan proposed consists of four programs of environmental management which will allow the prevention and control of aspects involving negative environmental impacts of relevance on the physical and biotic factors.
