| Summary: | Adolescents are one of the populations that most presents excessive use of new technologies for academic, interaction or personal reasons, consequently, sleep quality is affected by being frequently connected. Therefore, the objective of this research was to determine the relationship between new technologies and alterations in sleep patterns in adolescents from Marieta de Veintimilla high school in Loja city. The methodology used was exploratory-correlational, nonexperimental and cross-sectional, the Multicage-TIC and Oviedo sleep quality questionnaires were used in a sample of 55 adolescents aged 11 to 19 years. The results found indicate average positive correlation only between the mobile with insomnia p>0.005; rho=0.376, mainly among problematic use with moderate insomnia (67.9%); in addition, an association was found between gender and the use of video games, p>0.001; rho=0.453, specifically, 60% of the male gender presents problematic use.
