description Parasitic diseases are one of the most important causes of morbidity and mortality in guinea pig production because we characterized them by slow and discrete manifestations causing rapid weight loss and growth retardation. This research aims to determine the presence of endoparasites in guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) in the parish of Chantaco, Loja. During the study, 87 fecal samples were collected directly from the gastrointestinal tract from 49 sheds, and these were analyzed using the zinc sulfate flotation technique and sieving for the recovery of adult parasites. An epidemiological survey was also applied to determine associated factors. At the house level, the presence of endoparasites was determined in 79,59 % (39/49), while at the individual level, the frequency of parasitism was 83,91 % (73/87). Concerning order and genus, we identified the following: protozoa as coccidial oocysts, Neobalantidium coli trophozoites, nematodes Paraspidodera uncinata, Trichuris spp., and strongylids. The most frequent parasitic associations were coccidial oocysts and Paraspidodera uncinata, and in terms of adult parasites, Paraspidodera uncinata and Trichuris spp. were observed. In the statistical analysis using Fisher's exact test, we determined that there was no statistically significant relationship with the factors age, sex, weight, water consumption, type of feeding, and rearing system (p<0,05). In this context, the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in guinea pigs is a problem in this sector, which requires more technical management and the development of programs that follow the desired characteristics of each farm. Keywords: Gastrointestinal parasites, Protozoa, Flotation, Oocysts

In this context, the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites in guinea pigs is a problem in this sector, which requires more technical management and the development of programs that follow the desired characteristics of each farm.
