Yhteenveto:This study addresses the empowerment and integral development of the elderly in the “Arupos Municipal Care Center” of Loja, Ecuador, since with the progressive increase of the elderly population, it has become essential to analyze and improve strategies that favor autonomy and quality of life in old age; Therefore, the research was carried out between January and March 2024, with the objective of analyzing the level of empowerment in the integral development of the elderly population served at the center; by means of a qualitative methodology, with a non- experimental and transversal scope, using a semi-structured interview and participant observation as data collection technique. For this purpose, a sample of 29 people, including older adults, family members and professionals of the center, was worked with. The results showed significant improvements in personal autonomy, participation and emotional well- being in the population, in addition to the fact that access to diversified activities, psychosocial support and inclusive environment were factors identified. The proposal developed from this study was the creation of programs tailored to the adult that foster independence, development of skills and reinforcement of their own support networks. In conclusion, it is emphasized that empowerment in old age is an indispensable condition for integral development, and a comprehensive approach is required to address this issue, contemplating physical, cognitive, emotional and social aspects. With respect to knowledge, this research contributes to the dissemination of effective interventions in local contexts so that they can be used as a basis for the creation of local programs and laws for active and healthy aging.
