| الملخص: | Obesity is a factor that increases the morbidity rate in people who suffer from it since it focuses on the exaggerated accumulation of fat in the body, in this consideration, a study was developed with the aim of establishing the importance and effect of the use of gastric bypass, in the treatment of patients with obesity at the “Hospital Clínica San Agustín”, in the period 2015-2020. Under this approach, a longitudinal descriptive study was designed, as it focused on assessing patients with obesity, who underwent bariatric surgery with the Gastric Bypass technique. To this end, data was collected from the medical records of 52 patients, the degree of obesity they presented before undergoing surgery, the loss of excess weight one year after surgery and the post-surgical complications of the gastric bypass were evaluated. Within this scope, the results obtained led to determine that 48.1% of patients had a IMC of 35 to 39.9 kg/m2, 26.9% from 40 to 49.9 kg/m2, 19.2% from 30 to 34.99 kg/m2 and 3.8% had a IMC greater than 50 kg/m2 before undergoing gastric bypass surgery, while 45% lost from 76% to 100% of excess weight one year after undergoing surgery and 33% reduced their weight from 51% to 75%, 77% of patients did not present any post-surgical complications. Based on these results, it is concluded that gastric bypass is effective in the treatment of obesity since it leads to weight loss and improves the metabolism of the patients who undergo this technique |
