| Shrnutí: | Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are characterized by cognitive deficits, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, communication difficulties, and stereotyped behaviors. The disorder manifests during early childhood and persists throughout life. The symptoms interfere with daily functioning, and individuals with ASD often prefer well-established routines. Sudden changes, such as those experienced during the COVID19 pandemic, have caused significant distress, resulting in both physical and mental health problems. The objectives of this study were to identify the main risk factors influencing the development of autism, determine the primary psychological consequences of COVID-19 for individuals with autism, and design an informational guide for parents of individuals with autism, offering strategies to manage their children's irritability and stereotyped behaviors in unexpected situations. The study employed the bibliographic synthesis method, with a quantitative, correlational approach, using a nonexperimental and cross-sectional design. Information was gathered from databases such as Scielo, Redalyc, Dialnet, and PubMed. There is evidence that both biological and psychosocial risk factors contribute to the development of autism. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted individuals with ASD, triggering a range of issues such as anxiety, irritability, aggressive behaviors, and disruptions in sleep and eating patterns, among others. The importance of creating a guide to assist parents in coping with situations that may arise in the future was highlighted by this experience |
